We were at TRF on Opening Day by 8:15 am. Headed over to the campgrounds just in time to see Teach and Trinn get married. It was a very nice ceremony, I got goose bumps! After the wedding we headed over to the main gate just in time for opening cannon. Yea!
I was so hot and humid that day! Ugh! We spent most of the day just walking around and shopping. :) At noon we headed over to the Prince of Wales Pub to catch the parade and meet up with other rennies from the Renaissance Festival Forums. There were quite a few there and it was great meeting everyone!!! :)
Spent the rest of the day just wandering around and talking to other rennies. We didn't see any shows at all that day. Too busy wandering and talking I guess. Then, before we knew it it was over. We went to the fireworks show, which was spectacular, as usual. Then we headed back to the campgrounds for Teach and Trinns reception. We only stayed long enough to eat and tell the couple congratulations, we have almost a two hour drive back home! :(
Except for the heat and humidity, opening day was GREAT!!! :)
We missed the next weekend because on October 12th we left Austin EARLY in the morning and flew out to Phoenix, Arizona to spend a few days with my familiy and see my niece get married on the 13th. It was a great trip and it was so wonderful to see my family. The wedding was beautiful and the reception was a blast! We were suppose to fly home on Monday afternoon but when we got the the airport we knew right away that something was wrong. Before long we found out about bad thunderstorms in Houston and all flights going to Houston were delayed. By 6:30 pm we realized we were not going to be getting back to Austin that day so we made arrangements to fly back on Tuesday and called my brother to come pick us up! We were back at the Phoenix airport at 5:00 am the next morning and we finally arrived home at 4:00 pm that day. Whew! What a trip! I was exhausted!! :(
On October 20th we headed back to TRF for the Pirate Adventure! :) Our 11 year old son was with us and we were all dressed as pirates! Arrrrgh!!! :) It was cooler in the morning (yea!) but it warmed up a lot in the afternoon. :( We were finally able to see some shows! We saw Tartanic (excellent!) and Cast In Bronze (excellent!). I did some more shopping and bought a new bodice at Moresca's! It is sooooooo comfortable! I LOVE IT!! :) Can't wait to wear it again this Saturday!!!
We went to the Prince of Wales Pub at noon again but did not see very many people from the Renaissance Festival Forums there, watched the parade and then wandered around some more. We made it to the pirate auction at the 11 pound shop at 4:00 and Tim and I each won a pocket knife. Opening weekend I bought a dagger there for only $5 bucks that was much nicer. We were also one of the first 100 people to visit the shop that morning so we got a free gift. It was a miniature sword letter opener (or bodice dagger).
Went to the fireworks show again, wouldn't have missed that, and made several toasts to Lord Ambrosius as we watched them go up! It was SPECTACULAR!!!
We'll be back at TRF again this Saturday, October 27th for All Hallows Eve!!! :) Maybe we will see you there! ;)
Anon!!
